codino

how it works

1. your address is the seed

A Solana address is a string of 32 to 44 characters. codino reads it two characters at a time: one pair picks the species, another the palette, the eyes, the mouth, the hat, the tail, and so on. The characters after that name your creature. Hover a trait to see exactly which characters chose it.

2. same address, same creature. always.

There is no dice roll and no database. The drawing code runs right here in your browser and builds the 24 by 24 pixels from your characters, every single time. Paste the same address tomorrow, on another phone, in ten years: same codino.

3. how many codinos are there?

One for every possible Solana address, and there are 2256 of those. That is about 115 792 089 237 316 195 423 570 985 008 687 907 853 269 984 665 640 564 039 457 584 007 913 129 639 936, or 1.16 × 1077.

That is more codinos than atoms in the Milky Way (around 1068), about a billion times more. The whole observable universe still wins, with roughly 1080 atoms. For now.

Some codinos look like twins, but no two are born from the same address.

4. the NFT

Hit send and we mint your codino on Solana as a Metaplex Core NFT, straight into that wallet. We pay the fee, you sign nothing. The NFT address is derived from your wallet, so each wallet can only ever receive one. Its image and traits are drawn by the same code as this page, so your wallet shows exactly this creature.

Gen 1 is 10 000 codinos. Each one gets its number, #0001 to #10000, locked on-chain by a ticket minted in the same transaction, so there can never be a #10001. When the last one leaves, gen 1 is over. The site keeps showing every creature, but no more gen 1 NFTs.
